PROJECT MANAGEMENT 26.11.07
An old art college lecturer of mine used to say (in a Black Country accent) “knowledge is power”, so in keeping with Sir Francis Bacon’s famous saying, we drove down to London town for a Design Business Association seminar in Project Management.
Not that we needed to improve on the excellent service we offer our clients, but I like to deem seminars a success if I can come away from the event with at least one bit of information I can apply to our business straight away, which I certainly managed to do from this...
I’d highly recommend the DBA’s seminars to both design practitioners and clients alike who are on the look out for a bit of extra learning at no great cost. Check out their latest events here.
They don’t pay me to say that, either, y’know...

ICH BIN EIN BRUMMIE 25.11.07
The Frankfurt Christmas Market has descended on Birmingham for another year, which is great. It’s the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria and has (rightly so) become a popular event in the city’s calendar...

...AND ALL THAT JAZZ 28.10.07
We’ve been asked by jazz record label, Rehab Records, to build their web site. The label is home to city music scene mainstay Mike Gates, and saxophonist Chris Bowden who has played for the likes of Basement Jaxx, The Herbaliser and the Ninja Tunes label.

THEMOONTHEEYE WINS SILVER 19.10.07
We had a successful night at the Roses Design Awards in Manchester last night, picking up a silver gong for our web site for independent filmmaker, Mister Young, themoontheeye.co.uk. It was great to meet some of the top agencies from (mainly) the north of England, especially Simon and Debbie from Dare. Cheers for the drinks guys!

PLUS EXPO 18.10.07
The Plus Expo kicks off in Birmingham at the Wild Building, Floodgate Street, Digbeth from the 17th to the 21st. It’s a chance to see work by some of the city and region’s finest agencies. Unfortunately due to prior commitments (Roses Design Awards - Dave’s big head), we can’t make this year, but we plan to be present at Plus 08, which we’ll report from in full later next year.
Oh, and cheers to Pete Ashton for use of his pic...

BIRMINGHAM TOWN HALL RE-OPENS 01.10.07
Nice to see Birmingham Town Hall finally re-opened. Here’s a link to their new site, the pitch for which I sat in on as a consultant, and it was a very close run one with some excellent city web companies in the running for the work...
